A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments.. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan . One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU.

One day the professor shocked the class when he came in looked up to the ceiling and flatly stated, ‘God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I’ll give you exactly 15 minutes.’ The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop.

Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, ‘Here I am God. I’m still waiting.’ It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him, knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold!

The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked, stunned, and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, ‘What the heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?’ The Marine calmly replied, ‘God was too busy today protecting American soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So, He sent me.’

The young man put his
grocery bag into what looked like a brand new Cadillac
Escalade and then turn back to the old man and I heard
him yell at the old gentleman saying, ‘You shouldn’t even be
allowed to drive a car at your age.’ And then with a
wave of his hand, he got in his car and peeled
rubber out of the parking lot.

I saw the old gentleman pull
out his handkerchief and mop his brow as he went back to his
car and again looked at the engine. He then went to his wife
and spoke with her and appeared to tell her it
would be okay. I had seen enough and I
approached the old man. He saw me coming and stood straight
and as I got near him I said, ‘Looks like you’re
having a problem.’

He smiled sheepishly and
quietly nodded his head. I looked under the hood myself and
knew that whatever the problem was, it was beyond me.
Looking around I saw a gas station up the road and told the
old man that I would be right back. I drove to the
station and went inside and saw three attendants working on
cars. I approached one of them and related the
problem the old man had with his car and offered to pay them
if they could follow me back down and help him.

The old man had pushed the
heavy car under the shade of a tree and appeared to be
comforting his wife. When he saw us, he straightened up and
thanked me for my help. As the mechanics diagnosed the
problem (overheated engine) I spoke with the old gentleman.

When I shook hands with him
earlier, he had noticed my Marine Corps ring and had
commented about it, telling me that he had been a Marine
too. I nodded and asked the usual question, ‘What outfit did
you serve with?’

He had mentioned that he
served with the first Marine Division at Tarawa, Saipan,
Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal . He had hit all the
big ones and retired from the Corps after the war was over.
As we talked we heard the car engine come on and saw the
mechanics lower the hood.. They came over to us as the
old man reached for his wallet, but was stopped by me and I
told him I would just put the bill on my AAA card.

He still reached for the
wallet and handed me a card that I assumed had his name and
address on it and I stuck it in my pocket.. We all shook
hands all around again and I said my goodbye’s to his
wife. I then told the two mechanics that I would
follow them back up to the station. Once at the station I
told them that they had interrupted their own jobs to come
along with me and help the old man. I said I
wanted to pay for the help, but they refused to charge
me.

One of them pulled out a
card from his pocket looking exactly like the card the old
man had given to me. Both of the men told me then, that they
were Marine Corps Reserves. Once again we shook hands all
around and as I was leaving, one of them told me I should
look at the card the old man had given to me. I said I would
and drove off.

For some reason I had gone
about two blocks when I pulled over and took the card out of
my pocket and looked at it for a long, long time. The name
of the old gentleman was on the card in golden leaf and
under his name……. ‘Congressional Medal of Honor
Society.’

I sat there motionless
looking at the card and reading it over and over. I looked
up from the card and smiled to no one but myself and
marveled that on this day, four Marines had all come
together, because one of us needed help. He was
an old man all right, but it felt good to have stood next to
greatness and courage and an honor to have been in his
presence. Remember, OLD men like him gave you FREEDOM
for America . Thanks to those who served…& those
who supported them.

America is not at war.
The U.S. Military is at
war. America is at the Mall. If
you don’t stand behind our troops, PLEASE feel free to stand
in front of them!

Remember, Freedom isn’t
“Free” — thousands have paid the price so you can enjoy
what you have today.

From a Romanian Newspaper We rarely get a chance to see another country’s editorial about the USA Read this excerpt from a Romanian Newspaper.  The article was written by Mr. Cornel Nistorescu and published under the title ‘C’ntarea Americii, meaning ‘Ode To America ‘) in the Romanian newspaper Evenimentulzilei ‘The Daily Event’ or ‘News of the Day’. ~An Ode to America ~ Why are Americans so united? They would not resemble one another even if you painted them all one color!  They speak all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture of civilizations and religious beliefs. On 9/ll, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a hand put on the heart.   Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the Army, or the Secret Service that they are only a bunch of losers.  Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts.   Nobody rushed out onto the streets nearby to gape about. Instead the Americans volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand. After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the national flag.  They placed flags on buildings and cars as if in every place and on every car a government official or the president was passing.  On every occasion, they started singing: ‘God Bless America !’ I watched the live broadcast and rerun after rerun for hours listening to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the Californian hockey player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists and prevented the plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or thousands of people. How on earth were they able to respond united as one human being?  Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes.  And with every phone call, millions and millions of dollars were put into collection aimed at rewarding not a man or a family, but a spirit, which no money can buy.  What on earth can unites the Americans in such way?  Their land?  Their history?  Their economic Power?  Money?   I tried for hours to find an answer, humming songs and murmuring phrases with the risk of sounding commonplace, I thought things over, I reached but only one conclusion… Only freedom can work such miracles. Cornel Nistorescu (This deserves to be passed around the Internet forever.) It took a person on the outside – looking in – to see what we take for granted ! GOD BLESS AMERIC A !!!

An atheist was walking through the woods.

“What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals,” he said to himself.

As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look.

A 7-foot grizzly bear charging towards him. The man ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing in on him. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left and raising his right paw to strike him.

At that instant the atheist cried out, “Oh my God!”

Time stopped.

The bear froze..

The forest was silent.

As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky. “You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don’t exist, and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?”

The atheist looked directly into the light and said, “It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the BEAR a Christian?”

“Very well,” said the voice.

The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed. And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head and spoke.

“Lord bless this food, which I am about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen.”
